First Doubles Practice

Yesterday was our first doubles practice and our first practice with new assistant coach Andrew Thomson. It's so exciting to see everyone out there working so hard and yesterday was a great practice. We still have a long ways to go to be where I know that we will, but yesterday showed a glimpse not only of how we'll get there, but of how good we will be. Though Tommy wasn't able to make it because of some senior year commitments, the skill set out on the courts was the best I've seen since in the 9 years I've been here. Chris looked crisp all around, and his volleys and focus are much improved. Freshman Connor Hudson was really impressive, looking smooth off the ground, serving effectively, and surprisingly good with first volleys. These are just a few of the guys who looked great yesterday. I was also impressed with Max's focus, and the overall commitment by everyone to improve each day. We need to continue to work on our energy, keeping the vibe positive and focused, and we need to be more consistent. Flashes are nice to see, offering a glimpse of the future, but we need to make solid plays over and over. Friday, we'll be drilling and working on other components, and I am eager to get back on the courts. The fall tournament is only a few weeks away and we have a long way to go, but we're further along than we've ever been.

Sincerely,
Ben
