On Monday, we played timed singles sets and I feel very redundant. The level was impressive. The tone at practice is very conducive to focusing and getting better. We're doing a great job at creating a match-like environment at practice, which creates a great atmosphere to learn and improve. Almost every match-up was close, either on serve or one break, and some of the mistakes we're making are easily correctable. Connor Sutton and Kevin Wei played the point of the day. After a long, grinding rally, Connor took a short ball and sliced the approach to Kevin, who made a great pass. Connor seemingly was on it and stuck the volley, only to have KWei snap a dirty shoe-top pass by Sutton. It was such a high level of tennis for so early in the season.
Max Sabel is also reaching new levels with his tennis. His focus is unreal and everything is positive with him. He's not dwelling on mistakes and is such an intimidating force off of both sides. Tommy, rocking all new Fila gear and a Yonex racquet is also looking sharp, and the overall level has improved with the addition of Connor Hudson and a sharp reigning ROY in Wiechert, whose serve is much improved.
The fall tournament is fast approaching (Sept 30-Oct 2), and we're rounding into form. On Wednesday, we'll get back to work on dubs.
Sincerely,
Ben
