Week 1

We wrapped up our first week of fall practice on Friday, and I couldn't have asked for a better end to a great week. The weather was perfect, and the energy and tone were exactly what we need this season. We drilled for half of the practice and played doubles for the other half, and I was impressed at the intensity and focus of everyone. The busted through the drills and didn't take reps off. With that approach to practice, we will achieve great things, and for the freshmen to be able to practice at that level gives a coach great hope for the future. Moving into the doubles, I was really impressed with the overall level. Guys were active at net, putting balls down, and the quality of the points was very high. We still haven't set our doubles teams, so these opportunities are really helpful for Andrew and I to see what guys can do. There is no doubt that we are deeper than we've ever been, and it's exciting to see some frosh step in there and hang with the veterans. The vets are doing an impressive job of working with the frosh to get them up to speed. The communication and teamwork that we've seen thus far is inspirational.

Next week, we'll continue to do some singles work early, then move on to doubles and more drilling. By the end of the week, we'll have doubles teams and a preliminary ladder. Special shout outs go to both Kevin's (Wei and Prescott) for busting it in 3-ball. Good level.

Sincerely,
Ben
