Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! 2012 is here and as I sit here working through my long to-do list, I'm ready for this season to begin. The long wait is nearly over as we begin practice on January 23.  There is so much that I can't predict, but the one thing I know for certain is that this will be the the best tennis experience in program history. It sounds hyperbolic but I say that each year, and each year we proves me correct. This isn't about wins or losses, but rather the experience of this journey. Every year, we learn more about ourselves, we learn more about each other, and we learn how to improve. In my eight seasons here, each team has worked harder than the one before, and this year's team is certainly no exception. If we work hard, learn from our failures and successes, lead by example before mouth, challenge, support, and accept each other, the results will speak for themselves.

There's so much to do, from ordering uniforms, to getting that first week of practice locked down, to putting last season's accolades on our records board, but that is the enjoyable part: working, piece by piece, step by step, and with each step, becoming more excited, ready, and appreciative than the one before.

As I wrap up this rambling, stream of consciousness post, I would like to welcome Jonathan Kim to the program. JK was admitted ED to Pitzer and will be joining us next fall. I can't wait to have Jon out on the courts and welcome him and his family into the Hellhen program.

Sincerely,
Ben
